Invisalign is a well-established smile alignment technology designed to give you the smile you’ve always wanted, without the discomfort and stress associated with metal braces. These aligners are invisible, comfortable, and removable.
Innovative Dental Solutions with Invisalign Clear Aligners
To help you get the most out of your smile, Invisalign uses a series of clear, removable aligners to gradually realign your teeth. You wear a set of aligners for about two weeks, removing them only to eat, drink, brush and floss. As you replace each set of aligners with the next in the series, your teeth are intended to track along until they reach the position the overseeing dentist has determined for you.
This method of teeth straightening is designed to fit your lifestyle, not change it. Unlike braces, Invisalign aligners have no metal bands or wires to irritate your mouth, they are removable (allowing you to still enjoy your favourite snacks) and they are discreet enough not to be seen as you conduct meetings virtually or in-person. Most people will never know you are straightening your teeth – unless you tell them. The goal could be that, by the time you’re allowed to finally go out in public without a mask on, you’ll have straight teeth!

Will invisible braces work to fix my smile?
Invisible braces work well for patients who have healthy teeth and comfortable bites/jaws, but have mild dental crowding, spacing or other alignment concerns. Qualified individuals must be diligent in wearing them in order for them to work. Phone us at 780-665-4833 to schedule your consultation with Dr. Nina Valiushka, our General Dentist who does Invisalign.
How long do invisible aligners such as Invisalign take?
Length of treatment time varies with how much teeth movement is needed, as each successive aligner moves teeth about ¼mm, and with how consistently you wear them. Aligners are supposed to be worn for 20 hours per day for 2 weeks at a time, then switched to the next set and so on until the treatment is complete. If the teeth do not “track” or move with the aligners, then refinement trays can be made.
Does dental insurance pay for invisible braces?
That depends on your plan, whether orthodontic coverage is included and what age group or parameters your insurance company sets. After your consultation with our General Dentist who does Invisalign, we are happy to send a complimentary benefits preauthorization to your insurance company to check your eligibility for clear aligner therapy.
How is Invisalign treatment different from other teeth straightening options?
Many factors set Invisalign invisible aligners apart from other clear aligners and teeth straightening options. For starters, Invisalign is made from SmartTrack material and designed to gently apply constant pressure to guide your teeth into the proper position. This material is also FDA-approved and contains no BPA, BPS, latex, or gluten. In addition, Invisalign allows for more control of tooth movement, is comfortable during wear, and straightens your teeth with more predictability with each successive set of aligners.
In addition, parents of teens or children and even adults will be helped by the blue compliance indicator dot at the back of their clear aligners, which helps remind them to switch their aligner tray. This dot cannot be seen when the aligners are worn and will disappear when the aligners have been worn over a two-week period.
Best of all, you can remove your aligners when you’re having a meal, making straightening your teeth that much less invasive and making it easier to clean your teeth than traditional braces.
Will I need to wear a retainer after treatment to prevent my teeth from moving again?
Most dentists recommend that once almost any dental or orthodontic treatment is completed, whether that is braces work or Invisalign treatment, that an apparatus be worn long-term to prevent your teeth from shifting positions. But, of course, every case is different and unique to each patient, so our dentists will look at your dental history and current dental situation to inform you of the best way for you to maintain your smile after your treatment is complete.
How often will I need to have appointments with my dentist?
Dr. Nina Valiushka, our General Dentist who also specializes in Invisalign, will schedule regular appointments once every 4 - 6 weeks. The goal of these regular visits is to ensure that your Invisalign dental treatment is progressing as planned, so be sure to be diligent and disciplined in wearing your aligner during this period.
Will Invisalign treatment still work if I only wear them to sleep?
You must wear your Invisalign clear aligner for 20-22 hours a day to get your desired results.
How do I take care of my Invisalign aligners?
It is essential to make sure that you take off your aligners before every meal and brush your teeth before putting them back on. Not doing so may stain or damage your Invisalign aligner. We recommend brushing your aligner with a soft-bristled toothbrush and a non-abrasive toothpaste and rinsing them under lukewarm water; please note that using hot water may permanently damage the material.
Please ask our general dentist if you have any concerns regarding the cleaning of your Invisalign aligners.
